Glad to hear Darrick finally watched Walking Dead season 1, but I have to disagree about the how effective the characters were. I think that besides the father and son who save Rick (I'm blanking on the names as I haven't seen Season 1 in a while and have yet to be able to watch the Season 2 premier) were the only characters who weren't portrayed as bland archetypes.
While I really liked the season overall, even the slow and dull middle episodes, one of my hopes for Season 2 is that they improve the characters. Or maybe I should just take it for what it is and stop trying to compare to the comic, where the characters were so strongly written and portrayed.

I'd imagine with the show, the time is an issue in trying to flesh out all the characters. It is not as free form as the comic. Season 2 is a couple episodes in as of this reply, what do you think so far?

Season 2 has already been impressing me with some of the gripes I had about 1.
With the full amount of episodes, I think they can/have established better pacing. And even from the get go with Episode 1 of the new season, I think they are handling the characters better.
I hope they keep it up, as I'm really enjoying the new episodes a lot!
